Darovoe is a small village located 12 km from the town of Zaraysk belonged to the Dostoevskys in 1831-1929. This place is so-called “Creativity Cradle” of famous Russian writer Fyodor Dostoevsky (author of Crime and Punishment, the brother Karamazov, the Idiot and many more). Here the worldwide known author spent his happiest years as a child. This is also the place where so many years ago he observed the hard realities of peasant life and the beauty of nature.
The landscape of the estate of Dostoevsky almost completely preserved in its original form. You will see one of the best monument to the genius near the lime grove. After visiting the estate you will surely come again to this peaceful, inconspicuous place that energizes and fills the soul with serenity and absolute happiness.

During the warm season (since may till september) – an insightful tour is organized for children in the estate: “The first meeting with the figure of Fedor Dostoyevsky”. The programme includes the story of the writer’s childhood, an exciting quiz, games and tea ceremony. The children are also offered a walking tour around the estate where young Fedya used to run across paths and groves enjoying the sights of the apple garden and borderless Zaraysk fields.
